J. David Campbell has been a professional educator for over 38 years. He just recently retired from the LDS Church Educational System. He and his family have lived in New Mexico, Idaho, and central and eastern Utah and now in St. George, Utah.
Born and raised in Pioche, Nevada, David has always loved to read and loved American and Church history. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree in history and social studies and a master’s degree in secondary school admin-istration from Brigham Young University. He has directed numerous LDS Church History and American Heritage tours since 1980, and he enjoys sharing his knowledge about sacred and historic sites.
Brother Campbell served a full-time mission to Brazil and has served as a bishop and stake president. He served from 1999-2002 as president of the Manaus Brazil Mission. He is now serving as a temple worker in the St. George temple.
Brother Campbell’s greatest strength is his wife, Bonnie Eksund Campbell. Born and raised in Roosevelt Utah, she also attended Dixie College and Brigham Young University. Besides serving in ward and stake callings she served with David in Manaus, Brazil and now serves as a temple worker in the St. George temple. Bonnie has accompanied David on a number of the Church History Tours and brings faith, fun, and music to the tour
Bonnie and David are the parents of nine children and have a Lamanite foster son. Currently they have 30 grandchildren. Their hobbies revolve around their family, but they also enjoy computers, reading, family history, gardening, music and sports.
